Liverpool 5 AS Roma 2: The Reds led 5-0 with less than ten minutes remaining but late goals from Edin Dzeko and Diego Perotti gave the Italian side some hope
Liverpool ripped Roma apart at Anfield on Tuesday night in one of the biggest match at Anfield in recent years and it was unlike any football so many people have witnessed by Liverpool in a long time.
Liverpool have had some success in the Champions League this season before but, performance like this by ever improving Jurgen Klopp’s side has left so many awe and stature of Jurgen Kloop and his team has heightened so much in the view of so many people even neutral fans that they have given them a chance that this team can go all the way.
It was just so easy for Liverpool to play through the Italian side and it did not look like a champions league semi final where most of the teams like to defend first then attack and do not want to attack so much to make themselves vulnerable at the back and give space that can be exploited.
in the first 25 minutes Liverpool should have been 2-0 up but mane did not have his finishing boot on in the first half missed some clear cut chances and after that we thought that this might not be the night for Liverpool but the PFA player of the year showed his class once again a netted a beautiful goal. few minutes after that he found himself space again and finished a relatively simple goal this time poking the ball over the keeper who was rushing out to deny him opportunity to shoot.
at the end of the first half Roma had their best chance of the game when ex Man City player Kolarov tried to surprise Liverpool goalkeeper but goalkeeper managed to get enough on the ball to let it hit the woodwork and did not concede the goal.
2nd half was started well for liverpool again who looked to attack with the help of Mohamed Salah and minutes into the 2nd half Mo Salah had created couple of chances for his teammates and finished easily by Mane and Firmino. Liverpool 5th goal went in 68th minute when a corner kick from James Milner was meet by Frimino header.
Roma gave Liverpool a late scare by getting 2 goals at the end to keep the tie a bit alive and took something home to play with next week.
