Iceland’s ex-forward Gudjohnsen said in an interview that this is a great opportunity for the Russian football and its team because they are hosting the world cup 2018 and teams all around the world are going to visit Russia and there will be positive energy and wisdom all around the country.
legendary Icelandic footballer Eidur Gudjohnsen told TASS on Sunday that “The Russian national team has been going through a difficult period in maybe couple of years. It is a great opportunity to lift up their profile in front of their home fans,”

“There is no bigger opportunity than holding a World Cup in your country, so it should be a lot of positive around the team,” he added.

Gudjohnsen was among the honorary guests who attended the 2018 FIFA World Cup’s Football Park Opening event in Teatralnaya Square in Rostov-on-Don in south Russia on Saturday.
“I was very warm welcomed in Russia, everybody around is very helpful. I’ve got nothing but positive things to say. I haven’t seen much but so far it is very good”
