Argentina World Cup 2018 Preview
One of the most talented yet unpredictable teams in football. Runner-up of the last tournament are not favorites to win the World cup and lags behind teams like Germany, Brazil, Spain, and Portugal.
Losing two major finals in last four years must have hurt the confidence of the team who is mostly reliant on Lionel Messi to produce the goods in later stages of major tournaments but he has not delivered yet, but in prime form again this season could this be the year for Messi & Co? who know we only have to wait and watch.
Despite so much talent up front they seem to be lacking quality players in the other areas of the park, Romero being there goalkeeper and a less than satisfying defence and midfield is not the ideal situation to be in if you want to complete likes of Brazil, Germany, and Spain who seem to have two top quality players in every position.
Argentina is in group D with Iceland, Croatia, and Nigeria, so they can easily qualify for the next stage as a group winner.
Argentina’s Manager: Jorge Sampaoli
The team’s third coach of the qualifying campaign – following on from Gerardo Martino and Edgardo Bauza – he took charge for the final four games. His intense, high press, attacking game was a great success with Chile, and briefly Sevilla, but does he have the players to make it work with Argentina?
The Star Player for Argentina
Argentina has arguably the best football player ever Lionel Messi. without him they could not have finished in last FIFA world cup and same is likely to happen this world cup as well, all the Argentina fans and his teammates will look to him to guide them to through the whole tournament and possibly win it for them. Will he be able to thrive under so much pressure remains to be seen.
Group D: Argentina, Croatia, Iceland and Nigeria.
On paper the group should be cake walk for the Argentina and they should top the group but things happen when you do not anticipate them. All the other teams will play with resilience to get a chance to qualify for the next round so all the games are potential Banana skin for the Argentina, but given the quality they have up front they should be able to outscore all these teams.
